Romance Nails

I have a confession to make. I don’t think I have ever bought any makeup from Avon. I might be a bit snob as I have always looked down a bit on Avon as being a makeup brand reserved for people who can’t have access to physical shops and order their makeup by mail order. I am less judgemental about Avon now, having seen through the years lots of high profile celebrities endorsing the brand, and seeing lots of Avon makeup products worn and enjoyed by the blogging community. As for the mail order aspect of it, it doesn’t concern me anymore as more and more brands have more presence on internet rather than in physical shops (I am winking at you lovely e.l.f) So why haven’t I purchased more of Avon, I am not sure really.

Anyway, today, I was given the chance to try the nail polish Romance from Avon, a nail polish my colleague got as a gift for placing an order. The colour looked very pretty in the bottle and I couldn’t wait to borrow and wear it.

My first impressions? Application was easy enough, formula was not too runny, not too thick and I could take my time while applying it but I feel it’s too metalliccy for my liking and I am not a fan of the brushstrokes marks so much. I feel this shade would appeal to loads of people but I find it a bit too grey and not warm enough on my skin tone.

And now for the close up on the brushstrokes. Ready?

Like this polish? All the Nailwear Pro polishes are half price at the moment. Alternatively, you can get it for free as part of their ‘ Free Christmas Shimmering Set’ when you place an order of £12 minimum on makeup or fragrance at http://www.avonshop.co.uk/.  Details here. They also have a free Christmas Special delivery code at the moment: Enter the code JINGLE at checkout and your order will be delivered free to your (British) home.

Anything you would recommend to the still-a-bit-virgin Avon curious shopper in me?

Ooh pretty colour, shame about the brushstrokes!

I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to Avon too - well, rightly so since the last time I wore any it didn't show up and then broke me out. But on Lipglossing and A Model Recommends' recs I ordered their Supershock gel liner in black and it's best, blackest pencil liner I've ever used! Got some glimmerstick liners too which are pretty. I think they're only £3 at the mo too.

I got my first avon product the other day (the gel liner everyone's been going on about, and yes - it is really good). Before that it would never have crossed my mind to get anything from there either.
