Why me?

Dear god, please not again...

To say that this week end has been a roller coaster of emotions is an understatement. It feels like I've been put through some test. I don't have much in my life in england, other than a crap ton of makeup, a permanent job, good health i guess, plenty of virtual friends, and my baby: my computer, holding some precious data which is very valuable to me. Tonight, after a very nervous visit by the landlord, the worst has happened: computer won't boot, windows won't start and I am very worried. My computer friend from work, who can't see my computer before tomorrow is very pessimistic. He fears a hard disk failure, which would mean, in his words, that the computer might be f*cked and the data with it. Of course I've backed it up but it's been so long since I backed up and I am very worried. About a year ago, i lost everything, and i mean everything, from childhood photos, to other bits and pieces which was my life basically. I can't go through this again. Some of you following me on twitter will remember that I solicited your good vibes and good luck wishes for the visit of the landlord today which I am very grateful for. (My boiler is broken, damaged the storage room through leaking and I was very nervous to inform the landlord about it).

My computer - well the data stored on it - is everything to me. If you have a minute, and a virtual candle, please spare a thought for me and hope my hard drive has not died.

As for 'les petits cadeaux' (you know the giveaway thing which I update every Monday) I am really sorry. I dont think I will be in a position to update it time or at all for tomorrow.

Hope it isn't as serious as you think and that you can save all of your data. I am lighting a virtual candle of hope, and if I can find the pope's twitter name I will tweet him and ask him to pray for you too. ((( virtual hugs ))) Jude xx @jadlgw

Hey good luck hunni, I so hope it can be sorted. I remember when I lost all my work from when I did my degree, which might not sound too bad but it was creative writing and I would have loved to have kept it. It's so sad. Sending good thoughts chick! xxxx

Aw hon, the exact same thing happened to me. Computer died, and all of my photos from age 11 onwards were wiped. It is really distressing and horrible, and I've got fingers and toes crossed hoping it's fixable.

Aww sweetie that sucks majorly, I know how you feel though I have the worst luck with computers, my current harddrive is totally buggered, thankfully I've backed up some stuff but not all of it and nothing recent, I really need a new laptop asap, it works a little bit but only when its plugged into the mains, I've deleted everything from it and only for a maximum of 15 minutes at a time before I get the dreaded blue screen of death.

I hope you get yours fixed soon and any other troubles dissapear asap, sending some good vibes your way gorgeous xxx

It happened to my computer not so long ago. My sister's BF managed to save it and all the data on the disk. There's still a chance you'll get everything back. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

If the hard-drive has failed, you can put it in a zip-lock bag then put it in the freezer for about an hour or so. Reinstall the drive then see if you can recover anything from it -- you might get a tiny bit more life out of it.

Also sending hope for your drive -- hope it's OK
