Lil Bling Gilt'y Nails from MyFace Cosmetics. NOTD

I have been wanting to get a good and affordable gold nail polish for such a long time now. I am not sure if gold suits my skin tone, or what kind of shade of gold tone would suit my skin tone (what is my skin tone anyway?) but I was nor ready to purchase the Barry M gold polish as this polish is rumoured to require 4 or 5 coats to achieve full opacity. In a ideal world, I would love to purchase the budget Asga George gold, superbly and perfectly worn here by Charlotte from lipglossiping but I am finding difficulties hunting down that little gold number. A poll on twitter led me to purchase the nail polish Gilt-y lil' bling from My Face Cosmetics (£5.99 from Boots)

This nail polish belongs to the 'metallics' family and brings with it an assortment of drawbacks. Metallic polishes will tend to show more every little imperfections and ridges your nails have, and will also show the brush strokes if your application is a bit sloppy. I knew this before the start but I was ready to go with the consequences. Taking this into account, I decided to buffer my nails a little before applying Gilt'y. The following photo shows the polish applied rather sloppily and with 2 coats. I found it easy to apply, the formula was not too thin, not too thick. My opinion: I think it was more bling that I was ready to have on my nails, and I didn't wear it out in the end because the polish screamed too loud for me. However…

However, on my toes (I spare you the photo though!) I find it so delicate. I feel almost Cleopatra dipping her toes in a bath of gold. I feel like those posh pears a la Nigella Lawson covered with a thin film of pure gold. I love gold toes. I feel they go with anything. The longevity of Lil' Bling on my toes was a bit disappointing, but the nail polish is easy to apply, and quick drying for quick touch-ups which makes up for it.

I feel I am going to get a lot of wear from gilt'y on my toes but I am still after a gold polish for my hands. Have you got any suggestions for me? Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments below or even the links of gold polishes you have already reviewed on your blog.

I've not come across this brand before but the swatches look pretty good! Gold seems to be colour of choice this Christmas! I wouldn't say the one I've just posted about is affordable though! http://bon-vivant-clique.blogspot.com/2010/11/all-i-want-for-christmas-is-most.html I think I'd much rather stick to the one you have!! Haha!!

I like OPI Glitzerland (but it's a bit overpriced) http://bit.ly/gLRAmF

and Model's Own Golddigger (cheaper but quite in your face) http://bit.ly/g99Lof

Shame you didn't wear this out, I think it looks great!
