So you have some great nail polishes at home. You love their colour but they are too sheer and they need 4 or 5 coats to achieve full opacity. I have some nail polishes like that, and the faff to apply so many coats put me off applying them altogether, unless I have all the time in the world and that I am bored senseless. What I have been doing lately to remedy this problem is to apply one coat of nude nail polish first and then 2 coats of the very sheer polish (tip I learnt from Helen Nice things). But I only have 1 nude polish in my collection, a cosmopolitan magazine freebie.
So this is why I wanted to buy some more nude polish and I choose to purchase bargain nail polish Desert Haze (£1.50) and Innocent (£1.00) from ELF.
Today, I wanted to show you how they look and perform applied on their own. Desert Haze was very easy to apply, the polish glided effortlessly onto my nail bed despite a funky brush: for some reason the brush fanned out more than usual, which sped the application process.
There are 2 tiny little hair which are slightly longer than the others, but nothing major and that can't be fixed with a little quick trim. The photos show 3 coats. I absolutely love the colour and it's a change from the usual (and only) pinky nude I had in my collection. It would have been ideal if I had achieved that opacity in 2 coats, but heck, for £1.50, one can't complain. Thumbs up from me.
Meet 'Innocent' from Elf. This one sported a traditional brush and I didn't need to trim anything. I didn't have the funky fan out effect that the Desert Haze had. The colour is exactly like I imagined. Application was a doddle and it's such a forgiving colour, you can go for it and apply very sloppily, which is what I did.
This colour might be a bit bland for some, but for me, it's perfect and I can't wait to use it on its own or layered underneath a sheer and more coloured polish. In an ideal world, this polish would have reached opacity in 2 coats but for £1.00, it's totally worth it.
So if you're looking for 2 items to make your order reach £10 and make the most of an promotional offer, pop these 2 colours in your basket, you won't be disappointed. I was thrilled. Woop ^_^
What do you think? Do you like? Do you own elf shades yourself? Which nail polishes should I get from ELF?

I love this polish colour! I've never tried elf polishes, but I might give this one a shot :)
oo nice desert haze is especially nice
I love Desert Haze. Have never thought of putting a nude base under sheer polishes! x
I have innocent which I love!
I also have Metal Madness which is stunning with red and green flecks in the pewter silver colour, and copper which is really pretty and I have a bunch of others but I don't remember which ones...
I figure for £1.50 there's nothing to lose! Hehe
Ohh I love them! Love them both, but I got a little more love for desert haze.
.. No I dont. Jesus! This is dilemma, a classic.
I'm not much of a help here. I'd take them both ^^
Love Lois xxx
new follower here : ) these are gorgeous shades, thank u for the post> i have had bad times selecting nail shades on elf they look nothing like the swatch image - i will however trust these now! xxx
Innocent is gorgeous I have to have it!
I have Innocent too, I love it! My favourite elf polish has to be the mint one ( I think it's Mint Cream?). Even my dentist, who looks and acts like Jeremy Clarkson, has complimented that one! x
I love both colours. They look fab on you. I don't own any ELF polish, but I think I just found two to start my shopping list with x
Ooh I love both but innocent is just wow! x
Ooh I'll be checking these out, I've been using Accessorize 'Fudge' which is the perfect nude but I kind of resent paying £4 for a colour I only use as a base. Thank god for ELF's cheapness :D xx
I've been trying to get my hands on the Innocent for a while!!! It finaly said in stock on the site so I placed my order & when it came they said they ran out so they took it off my bill...BLAH! I like the deser haze as well. They look great just on their own as well I think!
KatXoXo
