Peach Melba Nails and exciting news...

The Peach Melba (French: pêche Melba  is a classic dessert, invented in 1892 or 1893 by the French chef Auguste Escoffier at the Savoy Hotel, London to honour the Australian soprano, Nellie Melba.[1] It combines two favourite summer fruits: peaches and raspberry sauce accompanying vanilla ice cream. Peach Melba is also the name of a gorgeous shade (no.72) of peach polish by BeautyUK (source: liloopedia). Many pale or pastel polishes tend to be streaky or patchy. Not with this one. Application of peach melba was, as per usual a doddle and a pleasure.  The overdose of pictures will give you a pretty good clue on how much I have enjoyed this polish :P

I'll have 2 Blue Lagoon & 1 Peach Melba, please Barry...

How dare you Barry M tempting me with a whole host of mouth watering products, when I am in the middle of a spending ban? Barry M has just released 2 new shades of nail polishes on their website: Blue Moon 317 {Blue Lagoon totally sounds way cooler :P} and Peach Melba 318.






I am not sure when they will be available from your local Boots and Superdrug, but you can order them online at its usual bargain price of £2.99 each.

There is no way I would buy this without first swatching in the shop. The applicator reminds me of  Touche Eclat. I wonder what the texture is like.


3. Finally, the 3 recent colourful additions to the Instant Nail Effects (£3.99) hitting the 'physical stores' with no more precise date than "in a month or so". I must admit the future release of 8 the Models Own crackle polishes has excited me more but I cannot deny that the colours are absolutely gorgeous, from the photos I have seen so far. I've seen a girl wearing a girl wearing pink crackle on bright fuchsia and it looks so cool. I am very tempted and you can 2 Barry M crackle polishes for the price of one Models own. But since Beautyuk will also be releasing a pink crackle polish in May, I might just as well wait for that one, since the polishes there usually cost £1.99 (maybe it will be £2.99 for that special one?)



 


Now would it have been great, like Elf always does, to have free postage and packing a as a little incentive to order these new products from the Barry M website :)

“Avoir La Pêche” Sleek Makeup Collection

"Avoir la pêche": French expression which you're likely to hear again in the beauty blogosphere.  Literally it means 'to have a/the peach'. Used as an expression it means 'to feel great, perky, happy, bouncy, in top shape, tickety boo, like a happy bunny etc'. Also the name for the latest Sleekmakeup makeup collection released a few days ago in selected Superdrug stores. The collection boasts a juicy lip product (a SPF 15 pout polish) a blusher and a eyeshadow palette named after a variety of Chinese flat peach, the Paraguaya.



 



Do i like peachy/corally tones on my eyes? Do they even suit me? I don't know but I am intrigued and I can't wait to dip my fat fingers in the tester of the paraguaya palette at my nearest Superdrug and have a little swatch. I am slightly disappointed they didn't release a few nail polishes in there but overall, this collection excites me. I am all  for bright colours and I want to see how much they 'give me the peach' and brighten my mood :)

A dupe of Models Own 'Golden Peach' at £0.49?

. My blog is rapidly turning into 'let me buy all the cheap tat in the shops, so that you don't have to'. Inspired by friend Debbie who discovered some bargains at bodycare, I stumbled on a trio of mini polishes (7ml in each bottle), and right in the middle of this trio, this peachy polish infused with gold, which reminded me straight away of Models Own Golden Peach, one of many items on my ever expanding wishlist.


 






This trio was priced at £1.49, making this little sexy number just costing £0.49. At this price, even if I get 5 manicures with it, I'll be happy. The first swipe on my nails and it was love at first sight and I just couldn't wait to pait all my other nails with it and show it to you. Application was a breeze despite a very sheer formula. Here you can see 2 coats applied over a nude polish, the same one as normal, misscellaneous from missguided yadi yada *yawn*. I must buy another nude polish because at this rate, I am going to run out by the end of the month.







Love at first SIGHT but definitely not love at first SNIFF: I'm not sure what they put in there but, boy, 'goldy peachy' as I would like to call it stinks the place out. I actually usually love the smell of the chemicals in the polishes but this is a different story altogether and it reminded me a bit of the smell of a freshly painted bench.







Overall opinion: other than being impatient at the nail polish to dry so that the nail polish diminishes in smell power, I am very happy with my little bargain and until I can afford it, this will be my very own models own golden peach to keep and enjoy.
