OPI Eiffel for this Color - NOTD

My first encounter with an OPI polish happened just 3 weeks ago and it was love at first sight. I couldn’t wait to try some more OPI polishes. I was so happy because I finally understood why people had been raving about OPI polishes so much. So when I saw ‘Eiffel for this colour’ available on a blog sale at half price, I just had to have it. But maybe I should have had done some more research about it beforehand...

The colour is undeniably gorgeous: dark purple with a lovely lighter purple shimmer at the heart of it, when the light hits it. What a crying shame the application was an absolute ordeal. This is my 3rd poor attempt (the first 2 were nowhere near decent to be photographed) and it’s still not right. It actually made me doubt even more about the (little of) nail application skills I had achieved so far.

While I was in the middle of it, I applied for reassurance purposes a quick coat of OPI ‘I’m not really a waitress’ (yum!) on the thumb of my other hand and everything was right with the world again. There is definitely something not quite right about the formula of Eiffel for this Color’, and I can’t put my finger on it. I found it helped if I applied 2 thick coats rather than 3 thin coats but still had so much trouble arriving at an even smooth application and to have neat edges. For some reason as well, the brush felt like a trowel in my hand, it felt like the product rather than the brush was controlling the application and wanted to lodge itself right onto my cuticles.

What a shame. I would only recommend this nail polish for the more advanced nail aficionados who really like this colour in particular, and only those with a patience of an angel. Otherwise, you might want to skip it.

Now if eyeko (this reminded me actually a bit of the vampira one for some reason) did something similar, this would make me very happy. Seen any dupes of this colour? I’d love to know! Have you also got some non recommendations for OPI polishes?
