Miscellaneous Mannequin Manicure (NOTD)

I was so impressed by the Splash Missfit nail polish, which came out as a freebie in the Cosmopolitan magazine this month that I wanted to check out another shade to see how it performed. So I bought another magazine (£3.50) just to have the chance to test trial another nail polish from Splash and chose to buy their nude shade called ‘Miscellaneous’.

My first impressions? The word is Miscellaneous is super difficult to write and pronounce, the nude mannequin trend is definitely not me, but oh my goodness the formula yet again was a dream to apply. Just the right amount of thickness, and totally opaque in 2 coats. (n.b please excuse the nail of my index finger, it has a mind of its own and just flops for no reason, making the nail looking all pointy)

If you like this kind of colour, get your hands quick on this polish before the magazine runs out, you won’t be disappointed: great formula, great finish. I’ve got 2 magazines to read now, but my trial run was a success and I can’t wait for Splash (Missguided) to come out with other shades as the 6 shades from the website are not for me (too cremy) Great value for a £5 polish. Very impressed.

Mushrooms & Berries NOTD and MissFit Take 2.

You know what? Blog comments are like Red Bull, they give you wiiiings. I just posted my first notd attempt (take 2 of Missfit from Missguided at the bottom of this post) yesterday and the comments you left for me were so uplifting that it gave me the confidence to do some more :)

So I would like to share with you 2 other nail polishes: my first Barry M acquisitions which I have been meaning to try for ages:
Barry M Berry Ice Cream (308)  and Barry M Mushroom (033)

I realise the whole world and its missus have already got these shades. If you haven't, here are my 'swatches' Both polishes were an absolute dream to apply and I would totally recommend them for a beginner. I love the brush, the thick but not gloopy formula and the fact that I get coverage in 2 coats. Now that I've been used to this, it's going to be pretty hard to top that.

So first, this is Berry Ice Cream. I love the colour but I don't like the finish. It's pretty on photos, and even in real life, but it's simply not me and it's going straight to my friend's house. I don't like crème finishes really, I personally find them a bit flat on me. I have tried to take photos both indoors with the flash and outside with a real lighting. My goodness we were lucky today, such a lovely sunshine.

Barry M Mushroom feels divine. Although it's also a crème finish, I don't mind it as much because it falls more in the category of natural earthy greige kind of polishes and it feels more acceptable, to have a shimmer or a duo chrome going on. If you like these shades, hand on my heart, you won't be disappointed by the formula and the ease of application and I would wholeheartedly recommend them. Now I am tempted to buy 'vivid purple' by Barry M. Anyone's got it?

I know, I know. Index finger could do with another coat really. I might have forgotten it. Hopefully the blue sky will detract your attention :)

Missfit from Missguided Splash: Notd-ish

It is with extreme shyness that I would like to offer you my very first 'nail swatch'. I know it's only one nail but for me it's a big thing. I've been reading so many blogs with perfect manicures (perfect application and top notch lighting) that I have never had the courage to post anything in this field.

I could not resist and just had to buy a copy of the Cosmo Magazine to sample the free 'splash' nail polish, all brand new from Missguided. I originally wanted to buy 'MissBehave' (the lilac/pink shade) but I gave in to the comments from my lovely readers yesterday and went to grab a 'MissFit', a gorgeous black polish with a gold shimmer. {Edit - 10 November 2010- I have swatched this polish again. better pictures, on full hand here}

I was not disappointed. I am not expert at all in terms of nail polish but I was really impressed about the quality for a £5 nail polish. I found the application very easy (although as you can see I did apply it like 5 miles away from the edges and cuticles, bear with me as I am learning) and in 2 generous coats I achieved this result.

For me, this polish screams 'party time' and I love it. Very impressed. I am still tempted to buy the lilac though... I am so stubborn…
