Pearl Eyeliners From BeautyUk – The whole collection swatched

Ever since I saw sneak peek(tures) of 3 shades of the Beautyuk pearl eyeliners on their facebook page, I've been really impatient to see all the 8 shade . I am a great fan of colour liquid eyeliner. My very first product swatches post on my blog was about glitter eyeliners, and I probably own pretty much everything Collection 2000 has done in terms of metallic and glitter eyeliners. If Gosh Cosmetics liquid eyeliners had been cheaper, I would have probably indulged and collect them all (and then I wonder how I got myself into debt)


*I am rambling already* Anyway, when Beautyuk  finally released their eyeliners, you bet I was very excited but I was very apprehensive too. My favourite type of eyeliner would ideally be really pigmented, not runny, not too thick, have a soft felt pen type of brush/applicator, long lasting and would not be a pain to remove. The very day of the release, I had to get myself down there to Superdrug. After checking their polishes, I just had to open one eyeliner and check out the brush, tester or no tester provider, I just had to see it for myself. Well, they did it: my ideal type of brush was in there, the only thing which was not so perfect with my beloved Gosh and Collection 2000 eyeliners.


Let's have a look at some swatches, shall we?

 







Photos show 2 coats of eyeliners. My instant favourite was purple haze, which I would personally call 'electric purple'. Application on hand was very easy, and dried fast. Once it's there, it's there and it won't budge.







Removal was easy. None of the shades stained my skin and it wasn't as hard work as the extreme art liners from Gosh to remove. I've come to think that the Gosh ones are too long lasting for their own good, and that I need to remove them with baby oil and lots of scrubbing.



So on the hand it's awesome, but how is it on the eye?







The felt tip applicator made a world of a difference. I was able to be so much in control. I had however to apply 3 coats to achieve the opacity I wanted. The first coat was more about tracing the shape, and the 2 others about filling that shape and tapping the product on rather than dragging it along. No baby oil was needed to remove the eyeliner. I used my simple eye makeup remover to moisten it, then I was able to peel off the product off my eyes.


In a an ideal world, this eyeliner would have given a opaque result in 2 coats, but with a brush like that, I am more than happy to compromise.

Groovy Grey Nails from Gosh NOTD

Last Saturday was pretty surreal. I remember it like it was ... well last week actually. I started off the day with my electricity company telling me I was in credit for a change, Tesco Express had just opened its doors in my little town, I was donated the much lusted after Golden Dragon from Gosh and and and and my friend bought for herself 'Groovy Grey' from Gosh which I was able to play with.






Now I knew I had to expect amazingness from this polish but I didn't expect I was going to be so blown away. All the photos you see are in one coat of polish. Yes, that's right just one quick coat gave me this stunning shade of grey. Application as with all the shades I tried from Gosh, (apart from the unique holographic) was a dream.


However, whilst one coat didn’t leave any patchiness and covered perfectly my nail line, I would recommend you to apply 2 coats unless your nails are perfectly ridge free and that you’re never going to do any housework.





If Lavender Love, Misty Mauve and Neon Baby, from the same limited edition collection apply opaquely and smoothly like Groovy Grey, boy you're in for a ride, a very happy one.





I leave you a with a little comparison: my latest favourite nail polish, Elf Desert Haze and Groovy Grey. Which colour do I prefer? Desert Haze, but its tedious and lengthy application in comparison will always make me choose Groovy Grey without hesitation.




Whatever you do this week end, include a little visit to Superdrug and grab your groovy grey, while the 3 for 2 for offer. You need it in your life, and preferably before the greedy gits sell it on eBay at 3 times its recommended retail price.

Innocent Haze Nails NOTD

So you have some great nail polishes at home. You love their colour but they are too sheer and they need 4 or 5 coats to achieve full opacity. I have some nail polishes like that, and the faff to apply so many coats put me off applying them altogether, unless I have all the time in the world and that I am bored senseless. What I have been doing lately to remedy this problem is to apply one coat of nude nail polish first and then 2 coats of the very sheer polish (tip I learnt from Helen Nice things). But I only have 1 nude polish in my collection, a cosmopolitan magazine freebie.


So this is why I wanted to buy some more nude polish and I choose to purchase bargain nail polish Desert Haze (£1.50) and Innocent (£1.00) from ELF.


Today, I wanted to show you how they look and perform applied on their own. Desert Haze was very easy to apply, the polish glided effortlessly onto my nail bed despite a funky brush: for some reason the brush fanned out more than usual, which sped the application process.


 


There are 2 tiny little hair which are slightly longer than the others, but nothing major and that can't be fixed with a little quick trim. The photos show 3 coats. I absolutely love the colour and it's a change from the usual (and only) pinky nude I had in my collection. It would have been ideal if I had achieved that opacity in 2 coats, but heck, for £1.50, one can't complain. Thumbs up from me.









Meet 'Innocent' from Elf. This one sported a traditional brush and I didn't need to trim anything. I didn't have the funky fan out effect that the Desert Haze had. The colour is exactly like I imagined. Application was a doddle and it's such a forgiving colour, you can go for it and apply very sloppily, which is what I did.







This colour might be a bit bland for some, but for me, it's perfect and I can't wait to use it on its own or layered underneath a sheer and more coloured polish. In an ideal world, this polish would have reached opacity in 2 coats but for £1.00, it's totally worth it.
