Our turn to shine

What do Lea Michele and Olivia Palermo have in common? The most enviable glossy locks. In fact, when I think shiny hair, their names come immediately to my mind. I don't know the secret to their shiny tresses but today I've heard of a brand new product and on special offer which aims to just do that: making your hair looking super shiny.

It looks like it’s going to be your typical pack of hair colour to do at home but it’s not. it's called 'Shine On Original Conditioning Hair Glaze' and it's a Professional Conditioning Treatment with collagen using salon glazing technique for home use.

What technique is that?

Glazing is the technique used by top colourists to provide a dazzling high shine to the tresses of their celebrity clients. With the launch of Shine on, Scott Cornwall is bringing the secret technique of the stars to your home. The first of its kind to launch in the UK, this protein rich conditioning hair glaze contains diamond clear colour molecules for a lustrous high shine that lasts for up to 24 washes

Without the need for cuticle coating serums, sprays or colour change, Shine On takes 20 minutes to apply and develop. Containing no ammonia or harsh chemicals it uses an extra mild developer for increased hydration and protection of the hair cortex.

Sounds promising but how much does it cost, will you ask? It would usually retail at £12.99 at Boots but they have a special offer at the moment (1/3 on selected Scott Cornwall hair care) so you can get it at £8.66.

Lea and Olivia: sorry loves, but it's my turn to shine, now Smile with tongue out

Going further than Nanoblur?

Buying a new beauty product is a risk. Fact. What if it doesn't do what it says on the tin? The team at Buyapowa knows this so well and is helping us in taking a more calculated risk through buying their products on their portal, at a much cheaper price.

Just a few hours ago, they launched the sale of an anti ageing serum I have been waiting for since the same day I first heard about Nanoblur. The product is called 'Snoxin' and oh my word, does it sound promising:

Snoxin features the highest allowable concentration of the most effective anti-aging peptides come together in this advanced serum to combat all aspects of skin aging appearance, including the look of dynamic wrinkles, deeper folds, fine lines, crow’s feet, textural irregularities and sagginess. Snoxin incorporates the highest concentration of next-generation advanced peptides to target multiple aspects of skin ageing. The number and concentration of the peptides in Snoxin are higher than most luxury skincare products on the market.

snoxin

While most products on the market incorporate one main anti-aging peptide to target skin aging, Snoxin incorporates multiple peptides that target aging through 3 synergistic mechanisms at once:

--- Reduced muscular contractions that lead to the appearance of dynamic lines and wrinkles
--- Increased collagen production through stimulating the skin’s natural processes
--- Formation of a more uniform collagen support matrix through stimulation of repair processes

I can't tell you if it really works, I have yet to try it myself and give it a go.

As with Nanoblur, Boots has the UK market exclusivity over
Snoxin, and I doubt they will be offering it any cheaper than £22.99 which is the best price you can get it with Buyapowa. The recommended retail value of this product is 39 Dollars (not sure if it's Canadian Dollars or American Dollars) but the conversion rate is roughly the same and would come to £24.99, and the Buyapowa monkey is offering it for £22.99. Sweeeet! Smile  There are only 50 available though, so don't delay if you want to get one!

Come and try the Snoxin with me and let's see if it works on our wrinkles :)

Overglaze: the latest gossip

Can't get your hands on 'Rainbow', the gorgeous discontinued 'flakie' top coat from Gosh? Not a problem. Inspired by the main female characters (Blair, Lily and Serena) of the 'Gossip Girl' American TV series, Nails Inc have released 3 gorgeous collections of special effect nail polishes. Don't call them 'flakies', these are 'overglaze' top coats, dahling!

Using hand cut particles, overglaze top coats will give your nails a futuristic finish which is bang on trend for this season. Applied over a deep glossy nails inc polish, overglaze provides a unique and exciting look for your nails

Meet Blair, a Teal black Blair nail polish teamed with Privileged blue / green overglaze top coat

This is Lily, a Plum black Lily nail polish teamed with High Society red / green overglaze top coat.

and last but not least, meet Serena, a patent black Serena nail polish teamed with It Girl electric blue overglaze top coat

Now, I know what you're going to ask. Can you buy the overglaze top coat separate? No, as far as you know you can't and you need to buy the whole collection, which is £20 per 'character'. But if you don't mind spending £17.50 in Chanel polish, then £20 in a collection of 2 polishes, with limitless combinations brought with the fancy top coat shouldn't be too much a problem :P

Do the nail polish correspond to the personality and look of the characters of the series? I couldn't tell you, I need to confess that I've not watched the series, but boy these polishes are gorgeous and get me more excited than any magnetic polish could ever do!

What? Nails Inc Gossip Girl Special Effects Overglaze Polishes
How much? £20 for one set of 2x10ml bottles
Where? Nails Inc website.

Voulez-vous smoocher avec moi, ce soir?

If there's one thing I find it hard to resist is pretty packaging. Now when I find pretty find packaging *and* a half price sale, my self control is even more put to test. Introducing a new British brand of Cosmetics called SMOOCH. I found out about them tonight, through Holly's Secrets and I can't stop thinking about it. I feel compelled to blog about it or I fear I won't be able to sleep properly tonight.

05-smooch-cosmetics

The concept for this line is lingerie and the packaging is absolutely superb. In the words of Smooch Cosmetics themselves:

The concept for Smooch came quite simply from a pair of knickers...... In fact not just one pair a whole drawer of lingerie to be exact.
Cosmetics are a little like your lingerie drawer, you have your everyday basics that you apply without really thinking about it, then you have the special mascara and uber gloss for that big night out.
Smooch “It’s like wearing your naughty knickers to the office, your own saucy secret!”

To celebrate the launch of Smooch, they are offering all customers 50% off everything online for one month only.  The discount started 2 days ago and will end on 16 September.

Please allow me to share with you my little wish list. If money grew on trees and I hadn't spent so much already this month, this would have been what I would have liked to spend my pennies on. The 50% discount has ALREADY been applied on these products.

First, these nail polishes (usual RRP: £6.50)  have caught my eyes. There are 24 shades in total to choose from but it's Car Key and Deep Beige (woah, you really can't get any deeper than that) which have caught my eyes. I have also nearly run out of my favourite black eyeliner (H&M) so this cute eyeliner is also calling by my pet name (usual RRP: £4.95). It's a shame the website doesn't show what the nib look like.

I don't own any Nars eyeshadow but when this Narsy eyeshadows, my heat skipped a beat. Will you guys indulge for me and report on quality please? The one on the photo is called 'minted' but they have 11 other shades to choose from. Smooch has really made an amazing effort in showcasing the shades but my only regret is that they don't give any description of the shades themselves. From the generic description '12 glistening duo eyeshadows' I would imagine that they are all shimmery.

02-smooch-cosmetics

And last but not least, this bronzer, which is looks so good, they even named it after the brand. Ladies, this is Smooched (usual RRP: £13.95)  I don't even wear that much bronzer but look at this beauty! Then look at me in the eyes and tell you don't find this bronzer utterly irresistible!!

In case you're wondering,  I have not been contacted by anybody to write this post. Inspiration for this came through reading Holly’s Secrets. If any of you is tempted by any of the items I’m also lusting on, please let me know, I would absolutely love to know what you thought about them.

Sleek Saturday Series – with 2 oh so special girls …

It's Saturday, and do you know what it means? It's Sleek Saturdaaaaayy. I am very excited this week and I have 2 girls joining me: Ellie from Missy Ellie Beauty Blog and Helen from Nice Things.

The idea behind Sleek Saturday is to forget whatever grudge you have with the brand encourage myself and whoever who would like to join me, to play with these sleek products you have in the cupboard and which you don't reach out very often. Today, I wanted to play with Oh So Special, a very recent addition to Sleek Make up I-Divine eyeshadow palettes. Trying to get hold of 'Oh So Special' has been an adventure and if it hadn't been Navilicious Beauty, who were very kind to custom purchase it for me, I am not sure I would have been able to get my hands on it.

Here is it in his splendid beauty:

This palette is unusual for me: such a drastic change from the bright vivid colours I am used to. Oh So Special is definitely more neutral and demure than many of its little sisters (palette in French is feminine) but I am welcoming it in my house and on my eyes with open arms as it’s about time I tried my hands at a more wearable daytime look.

Oh So Special has a perfect mix of matte and shimmering shadows which suit me perfectly. All the shadows are really pigmented and very easy to work with, apart BOW and PAMPER. My favourite shades are WRAPPED UP and GATEAU. This palette, strangely reminds me of a mix of the STORM palette meets the AVOIR LA PECHE  palette, which I can’t wait to play with and blog about.

My look had to incorporate WRAPPED UP and GATEAU, with a dash of RIBBON and BOXED. For the highlighter, I just had to ‘cheat’ and use my trusty Vanilla from MAC as BOW could simply not deliver.

I am quite happy the way it turned out. Since creating this look ‘for the blog’ I found myself recreating it twice after that. It makes me very happy and ‘oh so special’ is definitely going to be a keeper.

Not much else is going on the face, although I am very excited to tell you about my new lip product. So excited, in fact, that I wanted to devote its own little blog post. Click here to see what I’ve got on my lips.

I would like to dedicate this episode to Kellie (Big Fashionista) who inspired me to use the ‘Oh So Special’ this week hoping she will play with her palette soon and would like to thank Missy Ellie and Helen for having joined me this week.

Same time, next time for another episode of Sleek Saturday? You bet!
