White chocolate wonder

The pretty packaging, the fact it was called 'white chocolate mousse' and that it was written 'moisturising' led me to buy this and nothing else. Well, also because it was only 99p. I bought this in a hurry and at home I realised it had clay in it.





I like to stay away from clay masks. It doesn't irritate my skin or anything like that but I've got the habit to leave clay masks for too long and the removal becomes too painful and my skin becomes red after all. I left this mask for over 22 minutes (I told you I was bad with respecting times) and at no point it was flakey rock hard like a normal mud mask. Maybe I got confused, maybe it's mud masks that turn rock hard solid if you leave them too long and clay masks are ok? I don't know. I was delighted to find out that my white chocolate mousse mask was surprisingly easy to remove, despite leaving it for too long. It was a bit dusty as would be expected but still surprisingly soft at the touch when I removed it.






I was even more impressed by the scent. Don't be mislaid by the title and expect a sickly 'white chocolate mousse' scent. They should have never called it 'white chocolate mousse'.  This smells of cocoa and vanilla and it makes the whole weekly face mask routine such a pleasure.


Despite initial unpleasant hot sensation which lasted a few minutes on my skin, this mask felt absolutely divine on and I would totally recommend it if you wanted to give a skin a little pamper session and moisturising your skin. It left my skin soft, plumped and i can't wait to buy it again. if you want to slip this into my secret santa sock, I'd think you'd have very good taste

A superfruit pampering treat

I can't remember the last time I bought a facial scrub. It's been definitely 2 years or more. This means I don't exfoliate my face, it's just that I've been using micro dermabrasion products to use at home instead to get rid of the dead cells and help my skin renew itself a little bit. So I am surprised as you when I bought an exfoliating face mask on a recent mini shopping spree to Superdrug. So I went home with an exfoliating superfruits face mask pack.







Why did I buy this while I wouldn't usually buy face exfoliating products? 3 reasons really: They had a special offer (75p instead of the usual already bargainous 89p), I fell for the marketing trap of 'superfruit', and the packaging really appealed to me. It's the packaging incidentally which is stopping me from trying Montagne Jeunesse face masks. I can't get past the flowers and the leaves and all the ingredients covering the eyes of a woman. The Superdrug face masks packaging however is really grabbing me. Some might argue that the woman on the face mask looks like her head is floating in a sea of fruit but I don't mind that.





The mask itself was a lovely experience. Having these 'giant' exfoliating bits {they used the strawberry seeds in this one} again on my face, after 2 years of absence felt really strange. It felt a little bit abrasive at first, but nothing more abrasive than your typical 'mechanical' apricot scrub. The smell and the colour was absolutely divine and it reminded me of the 'exotic fruits of the forest' yogurts I used to love as a kid. (Yes, raspberries, blueberries, and blueberries would be 'exotic' for a person living on a tropical island)  My skin felt smooth as a baby's bum upon rinsing the product off and I felt the effect lasted a full week, which is more than the 5 days my usual home micro dermabrasion routine lasts me.


Am I going to stop using micro dermabrasion as a result? Even if the effects of my microderbrasion are not as long lasting as this superfruit masks, I still prefer the texture of finer micro exfoliating particles of a micro dermabrasion product. However when I am bored of the EXTREMELY bland look and smell of my usual dermabrasion, I'll be very happy to swap and give myself a little pampering session with this superfruit mask, at home or on my travel as the size of the packet is perfect for that. The packet is very good value but on the constructive criticism side, I think Superdrug could improve on that even further as I am sure you could use the product twice. I'd love it Superdrug designed their face masks like Garnier, split the sachet in two, and have 2 doses instead, like on here for example.


Will I repurchase it? Without hesitation, yes and so should you :) x

Becoming Blue for Halloween

Take one liloo with no makeup on. This is so scary in itself, it could have been perfect to scare the kids out, or anyone for that matter.

Leave your hair to grow for a year, braid your hair and put the coolest looking contact lenses in. I bought them with my own money from eyesbright.com and I chose the ones which were actually called 'avatar' lenses. The lenses looked absolutely amazing, the perfect shade of yellow with darker brown on the outer circle. However, I think I must have worn them inside them out as I could really feel the lenses throughout the night. To make matter worse, I forgot to remove them at the end of the night, slept with them and ended up with a blurry vision for a day which spooked me out. For the love of Halloween, no matter how tipsy you are, please please please remember to take out your special effects lenses before going to bed, ok?

I was asked if I was going to the full works and get my whole body blue but I chose to do a half mask again and I am so glad I did. It was raining on both nights (Saturday preceding Halloween and Halloween night itself) and I can't begin to imagine what it would have been like to be rained on with wet paint smudging all over the body.



This is what I used: For the actual paint, I mixed a bit of blue and white Ben Nye Magicolor Liquid Paint. No need to mix it water, it's already the perfect consistency. I only mixed the blue and white to make the blue a smidge lighter. I absolutely love this face paint, and I have used the blue many times as a eyeliner on my toucan look and on my flamingo look






I chose the biggest eyelashes I could find in my stash, added a bit of black in the crease to define the eyes a bit more than last year. The face paint is great, very resisting to the elements. The downside is that it's very hard to blend eyeshadow on top. Blend too much and you start to wear off the paint underneath. To add a little bit of sparkle, I added some glitter pigment from Mac on the eyelids.

Once the base was on, I added my markings very very gently with a random brush and some plain black eyeshadow. The little white dots were done by simply dipping an old eyeliner brush straight into the white liquid paint.


The piece de resistance was my lovely handmade ears from my best friend @joannadelilah, the ultimate master of disguise on YouTube. She made them herself, from scratch, first making a mould and then creating them with some liquid latex! I love my ears, I've worn them 4 times now. I have the nose to go with it but I am a bit shy to wear it.

Finishes touches were some mini crystals stuck on some white dots and a generous spray of Ben Nye Final Seal all over my face. My avatar mask stayed so well through the night. Even the little crystals stay put! The response I had throughout the night was absolutely amazing. I was the only avatar in the hood but people recognised me instantly. 'Oh it's Avatar' they kept on saying. I had such a buzz, despite my fuller figure this year.

I think I might have gone overboard on the white dots, I prefer the look I was wearing on Halloween Night itself (Monday 31st October) but much prefer the look of these avatar lenses.

Sequinning Around for Mardi Gras

As if attempting to recreate deannario’s blaze eyebrows was not hard enough, this time, I took the challenge to enter the “Mardi Gras & Beyond” makeup contest hosted by 4 lovely girls on YouTube: sophiechicken, degreesofshining, anneorshine and tinybubbles1841. I decided to create a very simple light pink masquerade/parade type of mask. I entered the contest mainly to support the girls and as usual it was an excuse to challenge myself and play around with makeup.




I did not plan to plait my hair, but as I was copying what the makeup artists do, and put a blob a eyelash glue on my hand and use it as a palette, it all ended up in my hair!!!
