A year on

I spend an embarrassing amount of time moaning about blogging, about the weather not being sunny for taking pictures for the blog, about not being invited to certain events, about not being good enough to be noticed by companies awarding bloggers, but deep down blogging a lovely hobby to have and the beauty blogosphere is a lovely place to be. Nearly a year ago I started a little side venture, in a way to show my gratitude to the bloggosphere who has welcomed me with big open arms. Les petits cadeaux, a weekly beauty blog giveaway gazette was born.

Barry aime Bold* and a flash giveaway

Barry M Cosmetics is on fire at the moment and is spoiling us with amazing new products: a new TV ad, 4 magnetic nail polishes, 5 'standard' nail polishes and 6 new shades of creamy and waterproof 'bold eyeliners' (£3.99 each) to complement the black, the only shade which existed so far.




Personally, I found the eyeliners a bit too creamy for my personal taste but I couldn't deny how bright and pigmented they are. Despite their initial movement due to their soft as butter texture, I can confirm that these are definitely smudgeproof and waterproof. Once they are on, they're on.




OMG. how gorgeous are they!!





If you like the softness of the Urban Decay and Gosh eyeliners pencils (I seem to be the only one who doesn't like them) I can guarantee that you will fall in love with these. When you need to sharpen them, just make sure to put them in the freezer for 15 minutes beforehand and you'll be all right.

Steamy Glow Makeup Look

Today I want to share with you a gorgeous little eye shadow I bought from Loulou in a past blog sale. This is Steamy, from Rimmel. Despite being all shimmery, the colours are absolutely gorgeous, very well pigmented and blend easily into the skin.








I've used this eyeshadow trio three times now but on all these occasions I've been unhappy with the pictures I took from my looks. This is the less worst of them. If I could go back, I'd change the lip colour wouldn't have had an orange lower lashline, made my brows darker and put less darn highlighter on my browbone.






I do love this lipstick (it’s called My Beautiful Rocket, from Limecrime - blogged in detail here) but not with this look. The lashes, if you are wondering are my beloved Ardell 131 which I just can’t get enough at the moment.





All in all, I am not happy at all with my look, I feel it does not give any justice to the look but I've promised Loulou to publish it anyway. It's best to consider this as an eye swatch rather than a look look.





To make your click on my blog more worthwhile, I've swatched the other item I bought from Loulou. Have a looks on this gorgeous blush and highlighter. Unlike Steamy from Rimmel, this is still available to buy from Boots. Don't ask me how much as I got this for peanuts but being a product from 17 Cosmetics, this won't break the bank. I am afraid I don't have any decent pictures of me wearing Blush and Glow but I hope the swatch below will be able to show you its potential.





Pretty, huh? So pretty that I've wearing the 'glow' part on top of a pale eyeshadow (vanilla from mac) and made up a pale champagne colour on my eyes.

What can I say? You can take the girl out of the high street, but you can't take the high street from the girl :)


I love loulou, she's a great friend on twitter, buys makeup I would want to buy myself and knows everything there is to know about census returns :P She's on holidays at the moment but she's having a blog giveaway at the moment, to celebrate her 500 blog followers. The best things in life are free... My side project

Just a quick post to let you know (or remind you) about my second blog, a little project of mine which had been brewing for a quite a while. Those of you following on me twitter will maybe remember the now defunct clonky and impractical 'giveaway bonanza' tweetletter which got outdated the minute I tweeted it. I was also unhappy about the flood it created to my timeline everytime it was updated and although the intention behind was good, the tweetletter was rubbish all around.

Les Petits Cadeaux, or giveaway gazette is born from the ashes of this newsletter and I hope you like it. The concept is simple: The blog is updated every Monday morning, before breakfast time and gives you notification of lots of beauty blogs giveaways, well the ones I know of and comes across whilst reading my blog subscriptions. A circle of love…

Couldn’t I find a tackier title? Wait, wait…


When the winner for the Sleek Santorini blush was announced, you may have remembered me announcing that there will be another giveaway (or two) in the pipeline. I have been meaning to put this post up for about 2 weeks now. Alas Superdrug was running out of the very things I wanted to blog about.


Just a month ago, I shared with you a topic very close to my heart. In fact, it was 2 things, triangular shaped, placed inconveniently under my eyes, my under eye circles which I have always been super self conscious about. The comments you left on that post, packed with tips, product suggestions, personal experiences, and generally love and support  have been so overwhelming and touched me so much.


Sooo, I wanted to give back a little something to you. Had I scooped the 161 millions at the EuroMillions (yes, I am *still* going on about that), I would have happily showered the 26 of you with presents. Alas this was not possible. Ever since I first saw a sneak preview of 3 shades of these shimmert eyeliners, I have been dying to try them, and see the whole collection. BeautyUK has finally released them, and here there are in their full glory. Isn't the packaging pretty? Aaaah! Now wait till you see the names!
