Un petit papillon inspired makeup look

I have gazillions of things to write about and how do I decide to spend my Friday night on? Faffing about with makeup! The day I wore my pink look at work, I asked a friend/colleague of mine to pick a colour combination for me to wear for the following day. 'How about something with purple and orange, you know a bit like a butterfly' she instantly came up with. I do love a makeup challenge but after looking for inspiration, and having a first practice, it was clear that I was never going to have the guts to wear something so colourful in the office.

Image24

So I chickened out. I actually wore no make up at work on that day (yesterday) but I still wanted to try to make an orange/yellow and purple butterfly inspired makeup look. It has been a while since I had attempted a dramatic cut crease so this is what I came up with.

001

002

On my eyes, for the main colours I have used:

- Purple from Sleek Makeup Acid Palette
- Purple from Sleek Makeup Bohemian Palette
- Black from Sleek Makeup Acid Palette
- NYX Mellow Yellow Eyeshadow
- Orange (my favourite orange in the whole while world) from the 120 palette.

003

Incidentally the next picture will show you an example of the smoothing effect of my camera. The picture below is my real skin with all its crap showing. Massive difference hey? It is worth noting that while it smoothes my skin, it does not change the blending on the eyes so much

004

I won't bore you with my highlight colour and lower lashline action.
My lashes are a combination of cheaptastic shiny lashes from eBay on top of Eylure Girls Aloud Nadine (Original) Lashes.  On my lips, Mac Velvet Teddy and Sally Hansen Lip Inflation Extreme Lip Gloss.

007

Eyebrows are a bit of a fail, they were meant to be purpley but maybe that's a good thing, as otherwise there would have been too much purple?
I had lots of fun creating this look. It reminded me of my first cut crease look (well, the  first one I was happy with) with also some butterfly action, which you may have seen somewhere ...

Outfit and Makeup for New Year’s Eve - Fail

I don’t know how you fashion bloggers take pictures yourself of your outfit but I am really struggling. How on earth you manage to do these shots of yourself in the mirror with not the flash glaring back at you, I really don’t know. I really liked what I wore for new year’s eve but sadly I failed to capture it very well and I mainly rely of some random girl in the ladies’ toilets in a bar to take a picture for me. Sadly it didn’t work out and the pictures didn’t come out very well. So please excuse the little bits of photo I took to recreate the photo of the night and most of all please excuse the unsightly yellow lighting.

I decided to wear a fancy black corset, a simple black skirt, some really high heels from New Look., with a little jean jacket. I wanted a all black outfit because I wanted a very very dramatic makeup.

Accessories wise, I wore one of my favourite pendant: a diamante pendant from Asos, teamed up with a random diamante cheap bracelet and a black jet butterfly bracelet from Diva (bought at warehouse if my memory serves me right.

For my makeup, I wore nearly exactly the same makeup as my contest entry for Glitterdollz7 but I made the cut crease even more dramatic and drag makeup looking, with a extended ‘up in the air’ white wing. Of course it had to be all glittery as well. Details for everything I used to do this look in my previous post here. These pictures were taken before lipstick. I wore mytrusted mac blankety and the first lipgloss I found.
What about the contouring and the blush and all that, will you ask? I did put some stuff on the cheeks from elf but 1. I am not very good at it 2. My camera which is very kind to me and smoothes my features/skin and all, also washes off my contouring attempts.

Bonsoir Kitty – Evening 'Spurkle' Cut Crease Party Look

YouTube Makeup Guru Carly aka Glitterdollz7 is doing a makeup contest at the moment. The mission is to recreate one of her makeup  looks. This is my favourite kind of contests: we do after all watch makeup tutorials in the hope of recreating them, right? It was  hard to choose what to do. For ages, I wanted to recreate her Barbie loves Mac look. I was also toying with the idea to recreate her  interpretation of Nina Flowers Drag Look since my eyebrows are very much ready for this kind of look at the moment.

Image23

But I eventually  settled for her 'H&M Cut Crease Spurkle’ Look (sparkle and purple). This was such such such such a pleasure to do: I love glitter so  much I could have it for Breakfast. My favourite kind of makeup is drag-gy exaggerated elevated cut crease look at it helps to lift  my droopy lids and and and I've got this one shoulder dress I am thinking of maybe wear for new year's eve and I really wanted to  try my hands at a sparkly and festive purple look.

Image18

Image46

In reality, the glitter is much much more vibrant and it was hard to capture with  the camera but I hope you'll still be able to see it.

Image47

Carly used mainly the purse friendly H&M Hello Kitty Palette to create her look. I didn't have this so I used the following  ingredients:
- purple from Sleek Acid Makeup Palette
- black from Sleek Acid Makeup Palette
- darkest purple from eBay 120 palette
- Mac Blanc Type Eyeshadow
- Fashion Lashes (101 I think?) from Ardell (Ugh, can't stand invisiband lashes, hate them!!) & Eylure Glue
- White eyeshadow from Nyx Trio
- Splash Proof Sealer to stick the glitter on
- Glitter: mixture of mac 3D silver (just a liiiiiiitle bit) and main one used was White Fairy Dust (white and green glitter) from eBay (the one with the  white lid below)

Image24

They have also other colours if you want to see on my twitpic here. I love loose glitter. Next I want to buy  bright royal blue mixed with peacock blue glitter.

If you are interested, you can see more photos of my look on my video here.
I’ve made a little montage of some bloopers for you below. Excuse the yellow lighting, it’s the best I can do with my silly camera:

How not to do a 60’s Twiggy Makeup Look

33881167_01__FMS

My pain in the bum friend, Charlotte from Lipglossiping.com has been invited to a cool party tomorrow. The theme is ‘Aussome 60’s’ and she wanted to do a makeup look inspired from the 60’s. One thing led to another, I was bribed started to look for 60’s makeup look tutorials on YouTube and somehow, ended up practising on myself. My hooded eyelids by nature going against me, I ended up with this drag version of Twiggy with a crease so high, it could mistaken for another pair of brows. I thought I’d post it for fun.

Charlotte: This is how NOT to do a Twiggy Look.

Purples Pearls – Makeup Look #2 with MUA

The brunette in me could not resist creating a second look with the gorgeous purples of MUA Eyeshadows. (shade 9 and shade 13 - gah I wish those colours had names, the public could have provided names for MUA at no extra cost, ha) For those of you who are unfamiliar with the brand, MUA is a new brand of makeup, exclusively sold in Superdrug Stores, in England, where every product is £1. That’s right, just one pound for any item within the brand.

001

Today, I used the same purples  as in my Look #1 but added a third purple in the inner half of the crease (Ransom from the Urban Decay Deluxe Palette). The pinkish colour which you see was simply achieved with one of my favourite highlight colour (I used Mac Blanc Type). I also used Blanc Type on the main part of the lid.

002

I really like the colour scheme, and working with those shadows. I am still baffled that they cost only £1. I do feel that the purple look #1 look that I did earlier works better though as this crease is way too shimmery. Shimmery creases have never been a good look in my book but I wanted to push the boundaries a bit and try it out. Looking at it now, I wish I had added some black on the lower lashline to add a bit of depth.

004

On the lips I used another product exclusive to Superdrug: it’s a lipstick from Sleek Makeup in shade amethyst. I love the colour so much, I felt it deserved its own little post.

Queen for a Day

Funny, really! For a film which really didn't impress me, here I am creating a second makeup look  inspired by Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. Reluctantly, I've got to admit now that I am glad I went to see the movie: The music was so beautiful, it gave me goosebumps right from the start and the costumes were breathtaking.
So I chose the Queen of Hearts dress (Red Queen's) as the inspiration for this look and entry to the YouTube Alice in Wonderland Makeup Contest.

 012

My favourite bit in the look is 'Fierce' a coppery gold eyeliner from Collection 2000, Glam Metallics which Nooberella raved about. I could not believe the coverage and brightness this inexpensive eyeliner offered. When I first tried it on my hand, I was disappointed with the brush but I was so pleased with the pigmentation I just had to buy it. Being used to my Revlon Colorstay eyeliner, this was very fiddly but definitely worth the effort.
Nooberella reviewed and swatched her little collection of Glam Metallics here if you are interested to know more.

Anyway, here's the look. I have some nice lashes with red rhinestones on top but you can't see them very well on the photos. It’s actually 2 pair of lashes, my normal favourite ones (Eylure Naturalites Glamour 101) and some rhinestones ones I bought on eBay especially for the occasion.

While I was working on the video last night, I was told the contest was extended for a further 2 weeks. So this give me time to had a little play with paintshoppro and give myself a crown for the day ^_^ I tried to create a paper gold crown by the way, but it was a major fail, and looked more kindergarden than anything, lol.

Nothing sweet about me: Pomacantha

And yes: I am taking part in yet another makeup contest on YouTube. The contest is hosted by fabulosa SharksbiteofLife and the mission was to create a makeup look based on a creature from the Ocean. I chose a lovely little fish, Pomacanthus xanthometopon also known as the Blueface Angelfish.

021
Beware, like me this little fella is not so much an angel. We have lots in common: we eat everything in sight, tend to be semi aggressive and feel best in a tropical environment... ^_^
Its design really lends itself to a creative look, the pattern around the mouth is awesome but I really wanted to create a more wearable look. The result is not something I would wear in the office, surrounded by a bunch of boring people, but I could definitely wear this out, … err if I had 5 hours to spare on that cut crease beforehand…

So here we go …

St Patrick's Day Inspired Makeup

One of my favourite makeup artists on youtube, letzmakeup has been hosting a makeup contest for her birthday based on  St Patrick’s Day. I spent ages wanting to have to have shamrocks on face, thinking what was the best way to do it, as my freehand skills were failing me. After also being unsuccessful at designing my own stencils, I wanted to do a look inspired the lovely black, brown, golden colours of a pint of guinness and this lovely cloud forming when you pour the drink inside a pint. Result nowhere near a pint of guinness.

My third inspiration had to be the one: the Irish flag. I was thrilled to be able to use orange again on my lids, and ended up AGAIN wanting to have orange lips. I have stopped counting the looks where I want to wear orange lipstick.

025
Thanks to my lovely hairdresser de merde who hacked off my fringe, I am sporting a black hairband. I will probably carry on wearing this for the next month.

SAM_31668 This is what I used on the eyes:

- 2 greens from 120 palette and 1 green from the ACID sleek makeup palette
- Orange from 120 palette
- Two faced shadow insurance, nyx jumbo pencil in milk
- Brown from Gosh Cosmetics Trio TR2 smokey
- White & Black from Nyx Trio Palette TS01
- Vanilla from Mac
- 2 pairs of eyelashes (eylure glamour 101 & green ones)
- about 3 random cheapo eyepencils (white, brown, black)

I had to show in the youtube video how I ended up to the finished result but I’ll spare you watching the video. To start off, basically I literally wanted to have the irish flag on my eyelids, but that looked hideous. So I opted for orange on all the lid, but then ended with something very very one dimensional so I tried to add a bit more depht my way.
A little before and (some time) after for you. Although I did muck about with it for ages after that photo.

020  SAM_3054

I never know how to end a post, so, i see you around then, bye xxm oh and happy st patrick’s day if you’re still out celebrating x

37.2°C in the morning…

Ooo I love playing around with makeup. This time, the excuse was a entry to a makeup contest hosted by my friend @detailoring on youtube. The mission was to create a makeup look based on a foreign film. I chose a French Film called "37.2°C le Matin" (literally meaning 37.2 °C celsius in the morning) and translated in English under the name of Betty Blue. My look was inspired by the poster of the film.

3298498097115

The film is about some crazy French woman who spends her time watching sunrises and having sex lol. At some point she even sets fire to the beach bungalow of her boyfriend. I am not sure why 37.2 le Matin is such a famous film in France because it’s a bit rubbish to be honest. With this mouth watering introduction, this is my look. I am a bit disappointed with it as my practice look looked so much better. Again, this is more for support to my friend rather than being super super inspired by the theme lol. Well,I was inspired to create a look based on ‘Run Lola Run’ but another contestant did an amazing creation for it and I got totally discouraged.

a11

a12
a14

and this was my blue eye when I was practising. the cut crease is so much better. I probably will never be able to do it again lol. Why didn’t I do the whole look when I was practising? My stupid hair was dirty, pff. I need to get a wig that I can wear for those occasions

Merci xx
